Map to the Wedding Location

Directions to the beach house
116 N. Laurel
(Note that the owners of the house have said that some GPS’s and other navigation tools don’t recognize this address. You may have to go old school...our directions are better.)

The house is on the beach, hence the name. It’s north of Haystack Rock, and just south of downtown Cannon Beach.

From the north:

Take the first Cannon Beach exit (Ecola Creek State Park).
Wind through downtown Cannon Beach, which is very small...one main street, Hemlock.
Look for Bill’s on your right in the center of Town.
Take a right on 1st street.
Go two blocks to Laurel. The house is on the corner of 1st and Laurel, SW corner. 116 N. Laurel.

From the south

Just before you get into the main part of downtown, take a left on 1st.
Go two blocks to Laurel and you’re there.

Note that it will be difficult to park near the house. We’d recommend parking on Spruce or anywhere in town and walking. It’s an easy walk to the house from anywhere in downtown Cannon Beach...We’re talking five minutes or less from the heart of town.

What to do

If you wind up in Cannon Beach bored silly, here are some of our favorite haunts and activities and such:

  • There's a pretty good beach. Head west. You can't miss it. Especially impressive for those of you from land-locked states.
  • Bill's Tavern...good place to get your bearings when you first roll into town. Repeat if necessary.
  • Driftwood Inn. Good place to get your bearings after your session at Bill's.
  • Sleepy Monk coffee. Good place to get your bearings the morning after you get your bearings at Bill's and the Driftwood.
  • Don't forget the 'Hardware Store' (wink wink, nudge nudge). Nuts, bolts, beer on tap. Whatever you do, don't order the ahi.
  • Ecola State Park. Lotsa hikes, beautiful beaches. Just north of town.
  • Oswald West State Park. More hikes and beaches, surfer blood, etc. A few minutes south.
  • Neahkahnie Mountain. Impossible word to spell. Hey listen, give me a break. Big hike. Great views if it's not socked in. South a bit.
  • Manzanita. Cute little town 10 or so miles south. Great burrito place.
  • Cannon Beach Books. For you literary types who forgot your e-reader in that pesky Skymall pocket on the plane.
  • Bruce's Candy Kitchen.
If you get really bored, try these:
  • Fabric shop
  • Glass studio
  • Spa (facials, mud baths, scalding hot yoga (new!)
  • Kite shop
  • Chocolate shop
  • Several schmaltzy art galleries

Update!

As the date approaches, we grow increasingly excited to see you people!

In response to overwhelming demand (by that we mean we've received at least one question about these things):

Attire

This will be an outdoor wedding (weather... you like it or not).  Come comfortable; whatever that means to you.  If you like dressing up for weddings, do it.  If not, wear those jeans.  We simply don't care. Considerations for footwear: we'll be in the sand.  Our inclement weather plan is a work in progress.  Toss in your foul-weather gear just in case.

Registry

As with everything else, untraditional is our style. Shut the front door.

Save the Date

Saturday, September 15th, 2012, 4:00PM
Cannnon Beach, Oregon

We are oh-so excited to get married and hope that you are able to join us.

To help with planning:

The house (event location) is located on the cross streets of S. Laurel St. and W. 1st St.
There is no parking directly next to the house, but you should be able to park on side streets and walk a short distance.  As the date approaches, we will post a map showing the best places to park. It will be an outside event near the beach, and while the weather is usually nice that time of year, there are no guarantees.

Look to the right for a link to help with lodging.  Anyone planning to fly will be best positioned flying in to Portland, OR.  It will be approximately 1.5 hours by car from there.

Invitations to follow.  Check back here for updated information as the date approaches.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to e-mail Brad or Kristin.
